The OIA, Assumption University of Thailand participates in the 14th Doha Interfaith Conference 2022

Responding to the call for papers through the Embassy of Qatar in Bangkok in 2029, Mr. Glen Chatelier, The Director of the Office of International Affairs (OIA) submitted his paper titled: The Emotional Development of Students in the Internet and Social Media Era’s hate speech and cyber bullying environment: How self-identity affects life, affective maturity and mental health: A Psycho-Spiritual Perspective. The Conference on Religions and Hate Speech was postponed from March 5, 2020 to May 24-26, 2022 and The Director’s paper was accepted, one among 100 papers with all expenses paid by the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID). The Conference focus was on Dialogs between Islam, Christianity and Judaism. The Director participated with the approval of the President of Assumption University and with facilitation by the Staff from the Office of Human Resources Management. The Conference held at the Doha Sheraton Hotel attracted 200 participants from 49 difference countries and with representation as well from the Vatican. The participants were invited to the opening of the DICID new building at Katara, a neighbouring city to DOHA. Apart from being the only paper presented from Thailand, the Director was able to share with participants the unique position of Assumption University of Thailand within the communities of Buddhist, Christians and Muslims and on the sidelines of the Conference, created prospective linkages with Universities in USA and Greece.
The Office of International Affairs remains grateful to the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Bangkok, the State of Qatar itself, and to the many scholars who interacted with the Director with open hearts and minds.
