The UN’s International Day of Non Violence

The 2023 UN Day of Non-Violence observation was hosted by the Embassy of India in Bangkok and the UNESCAP at the UN Conference Center on October 2,2023 to mark the one hundred and third birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Director of the Office of International Affairs of Assumption University attended the event on behalf of the University Community and availed the opportunity to meet and greet Ambassadors of Latin American Countries, Malaysia, India and international friends including those from the Indian Diaspora.
The event presided over by H.E. Nagesh Singh featured addresses by the UN Secretary General H.E. Anthony Gueterras, the UNESCAP Undersecretary of State and her deputy and a Keynote address by Prof. Surat Horchaikul of Chulalongkorn University and also featured the Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Arts Students choral singing one of Mahatma Gandhi’s cherished spiritual songs in Hindi.
The event was richly diverse and one notable takeaway  was Mahatma Gandhi’s belief in non-violence.
