Medical Insurance

Restriction about the Student type

  • The number of exchange students each term is subject to agreement.

  • Participation in the orientation program is mandatory.

  • Students should arrive in Kaohsiung before the event and bring a copy of their health insurance receipt to obtain their student ID.

Estimated Costs

  • Total (On-campus): NT$54,750

  • Total (Off-campus): NT$63,200 – NT$68,200

  • Accommodation:

    • On-campus dormitory: NT$9,500 – NT$16,550/semester (includes NT$550 deposit)

    • Off-campus accommodation: NT$25,000 – NT$30,000/semester

    • Bedding set (if on-campus): NT$2,500

  • Meals: NT$30,000 – NT$45,000/semester

  • Transportation: NT$1,000/semester

  • School Fees (Mandatory):

    • Insurance: NT$2,500/semester (NT$500 × 5 months)

    • Facility Maintenance Fee: NT$200/semester

    • Internet Usage Fee: NT$750/semester

    • Program Fee: NT$3,000/semester

    • General Medical Examination: NT$658 (one time)

Tuition Fees

No tuition fees for the Exchange Program if nominated by an exchange partner institution.

Language Requirements

Providence University offers courses taught in English, Chinese, and a limited number in Japanese.

  • Students’ language proficiency must be assessed by their home university before the exchange.

  • English-taught courses: TOEFL ITP 500 preferred, but not mandatory if nominated and recommended by the partner university.

  • Chinese-taught courses: HSK 4–5 or equivalent proficiency required.

  • Chinese language courses: No proficiency proof required. PU offers nine levels, including beginner.

Insurance

  • From 2023 Spring, PU’s general health insurance is compulsory for international exchange students even if you had the travel insurance from home.

  • Please purchase PU’s general health insurance upon arrival at OIA.

  • *Fee: General insurance fee: NT$500/month.

  • *One semester (5months): NT$500*5months=NT$2,500

Course Enrollment

  • Course add/drop is done online one week before the semester begins through the Course Selection System.

  • Students can register for courses taught in Chinese, English, or other foreign languages.
