Assumption University of Thailand, together with the Wilson College, University of Northern Iowa (UNI) is proud to host Global Skills: Thailand, a two-week summer program that combines cultural immersion, experiential learning and practical techniques to develop the interpersonal competency necessary to work effectively with individuals from around the world.


Course Description

Global Skills: Thailand combines cultural immersion with practical skills to help international students work effectively with people from around the world. Through hands‑on experiences in Bangkok, you will build interpersonal competencies, deepen your understanding of Thai culture, and learn how business is conducted in Thailand. By exploring the country’s economic context, cultural influences, and real‑world business practices, you will gain a competitive edge for global career opportunities.

Chris Schrage is a passionate educator who connects students to the world through UNI's Global Skills Program. With experience across 51 countries, Chris helps students build intercultural skills, confidence, and leadership through travel and teamwork. Each year, Chris leads UNI students on international journey to various destination, with 2026 happening in Bangkok, Thailand.

Participants will be taking a pre-trip cultural assessment and participate in a pre-departure virtual meeting for the topic selection for the presentation day.

🌟What to expect:

Week 1 introduces students to the Thai culture and lifestyles at Assumption University Suvarnabhumi Campus. Join a Thai cooking class and a beginner-friendly Muay Thai workshop. Visits two local businesses and join a networking lunch with entrepreneurs. Over the weekends, students will explore Chatuchak weekend market & the scenic view of Bangkok at the King Power Mahanakhon.


Week 2 focuses on the intersection of business and culture in Thailand. Students will visit two leading business organizations to discuss international corporate strategy, engage in service learning activities and explore Bangkok Old Town & Buddhism. They will conclude the program by reflecting on their learning and insights.


Participation Fees:

THB 35,000.- covering
