Live & Learn in Tokyo: Seisen University Exchange Program is Calling for Nomination

We’re excited to announce that nominations for the Spring 2026 Exchange Program at Seisen University are now open!

This is a unique opportunity to study for one semester at a private women’s university in central Tokyo, just 7 minutes from Shibuya via the JR Yamanote Line (Gotanda Station).


Who Can Apply

  • AU students

  • Japanese proficiency at JLPT N3 or above


What You Can Study

As an exchange student, you’ll enroll in one of two faculties, but can take classes across both:

Faculty of Humanities

  • Japanese Cultural Studies (language, Heian‑period to modern literature)

  • International Cultural Studies (English & Spanish literature, translation, applied linguistics)

  • Cultural History (religious history, art history, ethics, peace studies)


Faculty of Global Citizenship Studies

  • Community Development (NGO work, environmental issues, peace & conflict, Japanese education)

  • Social Design (Business, public policy, media, educational technology)


Language & Student Support

  • Japanese language classes offered at N3 and N2 levels

  • Support from academic advisors and buddy students

  • Join SEISEN AMIGAS, a cultural student group offering fun activities like calligraphy, kimono wearing, tea ceremonies, and field trips


Estimated Living Costs (Monthly)

  • Food & Transportation: ¥40,000–¥48,000

  • Rent: ¥55,000–¥80,000

  • Dorm Entrance Fee (one-time): ¥110,000–¥150,000


Credit Transfer After Exchange

  • Submit transcript, course equivalency documents, and a transfer form

  • Courses must be pre-approved by your AU faculty

  • A transfer fee applies based on your actual credit load
