Spring in Japan is more than just a season. It is a time of renewal, fresh beginnings, and cultural celebrations. From hanami picnics under blooming sakura trees to seasonal treats like sakura mochi, life in Japan during spring blends learning with unforgettable experiences. Through Assumption University’s exchange programs with partner universities, students have the chance to experience this unique season as both learners and cultural explorers.

All are welcome!

Assumption University has eight partner universities in Japan, and three of them are open for nomination for the Spring 2026 semester. If you don’t know Japanese, that’s ok. More and more partner universities welcome non-Japanese speaking students to their exchange programs, offering courses taught in English and beginner Japanese and cultural courses. For Japanese students, there are academic programs to strengthen your skills.

Living in Japan

Tuition fees are waived under the exchange agreement, and living costs depend on the city and housing you choose. Many universities have student dorms at reasonable prices, plus buddy systems, cultural activities, and student services that make life easier and more fun.

Your Step to Japan

Joining an exchange program means more than studying abroad. It is about living the rhythm of Japanese seasons, discovering traditions, and building friendships that last a lifetime.
