On November 8, 2024, the Office of International Affairs (AU OIA) at Assumption University warmly opened its doors to our inbound exchange students from partner universities with an exciting Welcome Day! This event was all about introducing our new friends to the vibrant AU community and kicking off their academic adventure in Thailand.

The afternoon started with friendly introductions to the AU OIA team, followed by an inspiring welcome from Dr. Radha Sirianukul, Director of the Center for Global Engagement and Partnerships. Our new students learned all about Assumption University and the Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics (MSME), along with details of the upcoming events like the international fest and movie night!

To spark some connections and break the ice, Sai Thiha Tip, Vice President for the International Students Community and Network at AUSO, introduced AUSO and shared information on upcoming activities including the traditional Loy Kratong celebration on November 13th. He, then, led an engaging ice-breaking session where exchange students connected with each other and met representatives from AU’s international community, creating a lively and welcoming vibe.

Next came a campus tour, where students experienced the beauty and calm of the iconic St. Louis Marie de Montfort Chapel. They visited the AU Museum and explored the art exhibition Covenant of Mountains and Seas: Beauty in Diversity, open until November 25, 2024. A quick stop for a Ping-Pong game at the stadium added a fun twist to the tour before the final activity at SG 109, where everyone shared reflections and joined forces to complete AU puzzles for a memorable wrap-up.

As the Welcome Day drew to a close, our new exchange students left with new friendships and meaningful connections. We look forward to seeing their time at AU filled with discovery, growth, and memorable experiences!
