UK Student Visa Application Checklist

Applying for a UK Student Route visa may seem complicated, but having the right documents ready will make the process much easier.
Use this checklist to make sure you don’t miss anything.

Checklist

1. Passport

Your passport must be valid and have at least one blank page. Keep old passports in case they are needed.

2. CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies)

Your UK school or university will give you a CAS number. Check that your name, course, and tuition fee details match your documents exactly.

3. Proof of Money

Show that you have enough funds for tuition and living costs.

  • Bank statements or sponsor letters must show funds held for at least 28 consecutive days.

  • The statement must end no more than 31 days before your visa application date.

4. English Language Requirement

Take an approved English test such as IELTS for UKVI or PTE Academic UKVI if needed. If you’re exempt, prepare proof (for example, previous study in English or nationality exemption).

5. Tuberculosis (TB) Test

If you have lived in certain countries for more than 6 months, take a TB test at a UK Home Office–approved clinic. Keep the certificate.

6. If You’re Under 18

Provide:

  • A signed parental consent letter allowing you to study and travel.

  • Your full birth certificate.

7. Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS)

Pay this fee online during your visa application. Keep the payment reference number for your records.

8. Translations

If any documents are not in English or Welsh, include a certified translation along with the original.

Every step you complete brings you closer to your exciting new chapter in the UK.
Stay organised, stay positive, and before you know it, you’ll be on your way.
Wishing you the very best of luck for your journey ahead!
